What does it cost?
Registration Fee $100
Fundraising Fee Each family is required to buy $20 worth of tickets to the Spring Soccer fundraising raffle. The tickets can then be sold to family and friends, to recoup the initial cost.
When does the season start and end and what are the dates?
The season will start the first week in April and will run thru May.
The first couple weeks will consist of evaluations and practices. Subsequent weeks will consist of two (2) games each week. All evaluations, practices and games will take place between Monday and Thursday (no Friday or weekend commitments). Please note that practice and game schedules will not be the same week to week. A final schedule will be provided at the beginning of the season, once the total number of registrants in each age group are finalized.
There will also be two time slots each evening: 6:00-7:00, and 7:15-8:15. The younger ages will play in the earlier time slots. The older ages may need to play in the later time slot, if required by the remaining field space on any given evening.

What age group will my child will play in this season?
The standard recreational age groups are U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19. The “U” stands for “under”. For example, 6 and 7 year olds play in the U8 division. Your child’s “league age” is the child’s age before August 1st of 2013. Your child’s age group fills in automatically when you register online.
Depending on the number of players that sign up to play, some of the age groups may be merged. This is more likely for some of the older age groups.
What differentiates Spring Soccer from Fall Soccer?
For our younger age groups (U6 and U8), there is no difference. They will still play 4v4 format with the same size goals that are used in the Fall. But for our older age groups, the format changes to 3v3 with small “pug” goals. The idea behind the small sides is to create a quicker environment that leads to more touches on the ball, and provides the player with more opportunities to be involved in the game.
How will the teams be formed, and can I request to play with a friend or a coach?
Teams will not be determined prior to the start of the season. Rather, the first few practices will be used as a time for the players to get acclimated to the small-sided format, by participating in various “stations” run by our volunteer coaches. The coaches will also use these sessions to evaluate the players. The Club will then assist the coaches in picking teams, to achieve maximum team parity.
Where are the games played?
For our younger age groups (U6 and U8) we typically have enough registrants to honor requests to have either Belleair or SJW as their “preferred location”. However, it needs to be noted that travel to the other field location will likely be required. Final determination on this issue will not be known until we complete registration and evaluate the number of requests in each age group.
For our older age groups (U10 and above), the games will likely be played at SJW. Again, this will be a function of the number of registrants and which fields they select as their preference.
How can I guarantee that I play primarily out of Belleiar or SJW?
The only way to guarantee this preference is to volunteer to coach a team or sponsor a team. The Club tries very hard to assign players to teams based out of their preferred location. However, all Recreational teams rely on volunteer parent coaches. There are no paid or club-assigned coaches for any recreational teams. Therefore, as an incentive and courtesy, the Club gives final preference to the Coaches to determine where they will practice/play. Therefore, situations may arise where players may need to be assigned to fields, which are not their preference. It should also be noted that the Club does not offer refunds if you are not able to play out of the field of your preference.
Can my child play on the same team as a Family Member, Friend or Coach?
If siblings are in the same “age group”, they are automatically put on the same team.
Every team can have up to two coaches and one sponsor. Those players are automatically assigned to their respective teams.
The remaining players will be evaluated by the Club and put into like “pools”, from which the coaches will select, in order, to fill out their team rosters.
We will make all efforts to grant special requests, but such requests cannot be guaranteed. The Club reserves the right to assign players to teams, as needed to achieve maximum team parity. It should also be noted that the Club does not offer refunds if we are not able to grant a playing request.
What Equipment does my child need?
- All players: soccer ball (U6/U8 size 3, U10/U12 size 4, U14+ size 5) cleats shinguards and a water bottle.
- The club will provide your child with a T-shirt. You will need to provide a pair of shorts and socks. The recommended color for both is black.
What types of sponsorship opportunities are there at the Club?
Team Sponsorship
The cost for team sponsorship is $125.
There are three benefits of team sponsorship:
- Your child will be a “protected player”, which means that you can essentially pick the team and/or coach for whom you would like to play.
- Your company’s name will be printed on the back of all the game jerseys.
- You will receive a sponsor’s team plaque.
General Club Sponsor
The Club has general sponsorship opportunities starting at $250. All club sponsors will receive website recognition under Celtic Florida Friends. Benefits offered, at increasing levels, include field banners, website promotions, email campaigns and business exclusivity. Celtic FC Florida is a not-for-profit, 501-C3, organization. All donations are tax deductible – 59-2908641.
