With renowned coaches and a history of excellence, the Celtic FC Florida Competitive Program is second-to-none. The program focuses primarily on building the skills of the individual player, concentrating on the strength of working together as a team, teaching our players the best strategies of the game, and how to play the Celtic Way.
Most Competitive teams choose to practice regularly and to play in scrimmage games against other teams within our club prior to the beginning of the season. Official practices begin in June and are held twice per week from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Regular season begins in the beginning of November and runs through the end of February the following year.
All Competitive practices and home games are held at the SJWAA complex. Competitive teams travel locally and long-distance for away games and tournaments throughout the season.
The Competitive Directors and Director of Coaching together will determine an appropriate tournament schedule, for each Competitive team and these schedules will be announced directly to the teams as soon as possible. All players are expected to participate in ALL of their team tournaments unless arrangements have been made at least 30 days prior to the tournament. We understand that unexpected circumstances arise and those situations are handled individually at that time. Competitive teams will participate in a variety of fundraisers, as determined by the team, to raise funds in order to help cover some of the costs associated with tournament fees.
Competitive teams also participate in various group outings, team building exercises and small fundraisers throughout the year. Exact dates and schedules are distributed to the teams, once assigned.
