The summer camp for 2013 has now drawn to a close and I think it’s reasonable to say that it was a great success with us reaching the 100 mark for the number of attendees.
The Celtic coaches John, Johnny and Johnny led the camp with the assistance of our own Coaching staff. John McCray the son of Willie McCray and nephew of Paul McCray and Jonathan Burns is the son of Tommy Burns. All Celtic Legends and fantastic coaches in their own right. The third coach Jonathan McFarlane is a Goalkeeping coach and ran some specialized sessions for the goalkeepers in attendance.
As well as a large contingence of our own Club players we had an increased number of players from other clubs within the State including Billy Griffin from Fort Myers. Furthest travelled had to go to Jack Jones, 14 from Fife in Scotland and Ben McCauley from Belfast in Northern Ireland. Jack who is a Dundee United supporter was visiting family in Florida when he heard about the camp. Ben is a huge Celtic fan and when he heard about the camp was thrilled to train with some of the coaches from his favorite team. Ben told us his favorite player is Kris Commons. At home in Northern Ireland Ben plays for Aquinas FC, U11′s who compete weekly in the Irish Football Association Development Programme.

In the closing ceremony as well as presenting certificates to the participants three players were selected to travel to Scotland to train at the Celtic Academy for a week. They were
Bria Ranchero U15 girl’s goalkeeper
Isabel Garcia U14 girl’s midfielder
Owen Huffman U13 boys forward
CONGRATULATIONS to those three players.
The Celtic coaches are with us for another week and will be running training sessions for many of our teams this week before heading back to Scotland next Sunday.
