Our Celtic U-12 Boys team made the jump to the full size field this past weekend for the first time at the Brandon Adidas Cup Club Challenge. For their first full size tournament the team was just looking to adjust to the difference in field size. They adapted quickly and claimed the 2014 Championship. Throughout group play the boys didn’t allow a goal. Outscoring Fishhawk (10-0), Clearwater Chargers (2-0), and West Florida Premier (1-0) by a combined total of 13-0. The second day of the tournament proved to be a tough one. They struggled throughout the game against West Florida yet scored off a set piece that ended up being the deciding goal. In the final they played a familiar foe in Wesley Chapel. Wesley Chapel has had its way with the boys for the past couple years. Yet in the final after Celtic went up 3-0 only to see Wesley Chapel come back and tie it 3-3 in the last 15 minutes. The boys re-grouped at the end of regulation and scored 2 goals in the two 5-minute overtimes to win 5-3. This is their 3rd Tournament Championship in their past 4 tournaments and overall their 6 straight final appearance. Congratulations to the boys, coaches, and parents.
